Preventive measures against a cyber attack are essential and these are already being focused on in companies. There are IT security manuals (from WKO, BSI, A-SIT, etc.) in which the topic of prevention and awareness-raising is dealt with in detail. Despite all precautions, cyber attacks can occur that require a rapid response. Companies and SMEs in particular have a massive need to catch up in terms of emergency plans for the right response after a cyberattack.

The aim is to develop a guide that gives SMEs the ability to act with regard to cyber attacks. This means that companies should be able to develop contingency plans and processes based on the guidelines in the event of an incident. The guide provides information and outlines measures that can be taken before, during and after a cyberattack. Attention has been paid to the suitability of the content for SMEs.
