WITH NEW PROGRAMME CONTENT
You make decisions at management level and are actively involved in steering the company. The introduction of reporting systems, the assumption of strategic tasks and the development of management systems are just a few examples from practice. Our Master's degree programme in Management & Controlling provides you with the best prerequisites for working in management positions with a high level of decision-making authority and responsibility. In these top positions in national or international companies, you will actively contribute to the company's success. In addition to private-sector companies, you will also have the opportunity to work for non-profit organisations.
Typical fields of activity include the core areas of controlling (cost accounting, reporting, strategic controlling, value-oriented controlling, risk management), corporate finance (investment accounting, company valuation, securities management) and external accounting (accounting, taxes, group accounting) of companies. In organisational terms, these positions can be structured both in the line and as a staff position. With regard to a possible focus of employment, no clear industry reference can be made, as all companies perform accounting and controlling tasks. This also increasingly applies to non-profit organisations and public institutions. Graduates can either specialise in large companies or work in a "generalist" capacity in small and medium-sized enterprises. Typical job/professional titles
After the Bachelor's degree, the aim of the Master's degree programme is to prepare students for the successful fulfilment of management tasks.
The course "Accounting Cases" forms the introduction to the Master's programme. This course serves to consolidate and expand skills in controlling, supplemented by questions of accounting and taxation. The content is worked through in case studies. This is intended to promote networked thinking and the recognition of technical contexts. Students with different levels of prior knowledge are thus prepared for the advanced courses in the specialisations "Accounting & Tax Management", "Financial Management" and "Information Technologies" with the following focal points:
Financial leadership requires a broad-based qualification in order to be successful in the complex business world. In addition to subject-specific competences, our students therefore acquire skills in the design of integrated management systems, risk management, human resources management and crisis management in preparation for their role as managers. Students are also enabled to participate in the transformation of business models and processes. Aspects of business law round off the overall picture of these management areas. Study trips and language courses are offered to prepare students for working in international companies. In addition, selected courses are held in English. This approach is intended to ensure a close integration of specialised content with applied communication in English. As the Master's degree programme is organised exclusively on a part-time basis, there is a permanent transfer of skills into practice during the course. The direct practical relevance is demonstrated by participation in practical projects and the writing of a Master's thesis with an exclusively practical problem in co-operation with companies or public institutions.
