Fundamentals of sustainability reporting and report analysis

Considering the growing regulatory requirements and social expectations of responsible business, this course teaches the central principles of sustainability reporting. As part of the course, you will acquire in-depth knowledge in analysing sustainability reports, interpreting relevant key figures and evaluating corporate communication - completed by a practical project.

The university course ‘Fundamentals of Sustainability Reporting and Report Analysis’ has the following content and therefore focal points:

  • Introduction to the aim, function and development of sustainability reporting
  • Overview of central EU regulations (e.g. EU taxonomy, SFDR, CSDDD, CSRD)
  • Report types: Structure, contents, target groups
  • Methodology of the analysis: key figures, objectives, transparency, coherence
  • Critical evaluation in the context of stakeholder expectations
  • Hands-on project for analysing real sustainability reports
  • Reflection on the potentials and limits of reporting

Prerequisites

A professional qualification (final apprenticeship examination or vocational matriculation examination or Matura) plus one year of professional experience after graduation or a relevant completed degree programme
