GMK2 – Further Development of the Business Model Configurator

Period: Zeitraum: 01/2023 – 12/2023
Contact: Anita Ulz, MSc, FH CAMPUS 02

As early as 2021, FH CAMPUS 02, in collaboration with the Institute for Technology and Innovation Management (TIM) at RWTH Aachen, developed a Business Model Configurator (GMK). The GMK of FH CAMPUS 02 helps Styrian SMEs identify their own business model and outlines possible pathways to new desired versions.

Building on this, GMK2 aims to adapt the online tool for business model configuration and expand it with business model trends. The plan is to integrate new impulses—such as digitalization, ecology, health, and Work 4.0—by providing relevant examples, offering Styrian SMEs guidance and inspiration on trends that may currently and in the future influence their business models. Additionally, the online tool will provide SMEs with fundamental knowledge about business models and business model patterns, as well as access to an expert and partner network.

The goal is not only to develop a flexible online tool for business model identification and transformation but also to make it accessible to the Styrian economy. To achieve this, a business model for the configurator must be developed. Additionally, access conditions—who is allowed to use the GMK, under what terms, and how—as well as the integration of third parties (consultants, universities, etc.) will be defined. Once all these aspects are clarified, the GMK will be made publicly available. To increase awareness, the GMK will be launched at a dedicated event.
