Period: 09/2023 - 08/2024
Contact: DI Dr. Clemens Gamerth, FH CAMPUS 02

Tourism is constantly evolving and has both positive and negative impacts on the environment and local communities. Tourism businesses face challenges such as limited resources and time. This project examines the barriers and drivers of innovation in the industry, with a focus on building confidence in the use of innovation methods. It supports the utilization of existing resources for innovation as well as the systematic development and implementation of ideas.

The motivation for the project lies in the megatrend of sustainable development and the recently presented sustainability strategy of Styria. The project supports businesses in engaging more easily with sustainable innovations and promotes an innovation management process for sustainable tourism.

The TINA project pursues the following objectives:

  1. Assessment of the current state of research and identification of representative best-practice examples.
  2. Development of "Pictures of the Future" for sustainable tourism.
  3. Development of an innovation process based on method-driven approaches to systematically generate tourism innovations.
  4. Development of a guideline to support tourism businesses in implementing sustainable practices.

By achieving the project objectives, the Styrian tourism industry will be prepared for changes through the development of an innovative mindset and skillset, fostering a more resilient economy. The study results will be disseminated through a roadshow and workshops with tourism businesses to promote knowledge sharing and facilitate exchange.
