Application & Admission

Frequently Asked Questions

I'm not doing my A-levels until this school year - can I still apply?

Of course you can still apply! Please upload your last year's school report in the appropriate field in the self-service area instead of your degree certificate. The final certificate can be submitted after receipt before you start your studies.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to start in the summer semester. Each new intake always starts in the winter semester with the 1st semester. The start date is therefore always 01.09.20xx.

There is no entrance exam. If you apply for the 2025/26 academic year, you will only need to complete an admissions interview after uploading the  complete application documents. However, fulfilling the entry requirements is always a prerequisite for admission.

The procedural steps in the admission process are weighted as follows:

  • Analysis of the application documents & previous education history: 50%
  • Commissioned admission interview: 50%

An exception is the admissions process for the Master’s Degree Programme in Innovation Management, as in addition to the admissions procedure, an assessment centre (case study analysis) must also be completed. Therefore, the individual steps in this programme are weighted as follows:

  • Assessment-Center: 45%
  • Analysis of the application documents & previous education history: 20%
  • Commissioned admission interview: 35%

When applying, please note the programme-specific application documents defined by some degree programmes, which are included in the assessment of your application. This can be, for example, the preparation of a given assignment. These documents do not have to be submitted, but if they are completed conscientiously, they will have a positive effect on the assessment of your documents and therefore your application. The extra effort is worth it!

Unfortunately, there is no general answer to this question. It is up to the respective department and therefore the degree programmes themselves to decide which mode (online/on-site/both) they offer.

However, precise labelling when booking an appointment enables you to recognise the respective mode offered at first glance.

Please note that the time given for your appointment is always Central European Time (CET). Unfortunately, we cannot take into account any time difference to your place of residence.

Move to a quiet environment for the call and make sure that you have a stable internet connection where you are.

You can choose the date for the admission interview yourself. You will receive a link to book an appointment after we have checked the documents you have submitted.

Please note that a subsequent change of date is only possible in exceptional cases.

If none of the appointments offered are possible for you, please contact the relevant department immediately. You will find the contact details in the invitation to the admission interview sent by e-mail.

Once you have booked an appointment, we will send you tips by e-mail on how best to prepare for the interview.

You have already uploaded all the documents required for the application at the time of the interview. To verify your identity, you must present a photo ID - regardless of whether the interview takes place online or on site.

Unfortunately, there is no general answer to this question. In most cases, the meeting with the commission lasts around 20 minutes. You will receive your specific time slot for the meeting either directly when you book the appointment or, if blocks of appointments are planned for organisational reasons, in a separate e-mail in good time.

An exception is the admissions interview for the Master’s Degree Programme in Innovation Management. Please allow approximately 60 minutes for this interview, as you will receive a subject-specific task in advance, which you will discuss during the interview. Earlier in the day, there will also be an assessment centre that all applicants for this programme are required to complete.

Due to the number of applicants, we are unfortunately not always able to invite everyone to an admissions interview immediately. However, being on the waiting list for an interview does not mean that you no longer have a chance of getting a place. We will of course keep you informed about the status of your application and send you the link to book an appointment if you are able to progress to the next stage of the process.

The committee is made up of the head of the degree programme or their representative, a psychologist (if applicable) and usually a member of staff from the degree programme administration.

After the interview with the committee, an overall assessment of your application to our university of applied sciences will be prepared, consisting of the documents submitted and the admissions interview. Depending on the number of applications, this process can take different lengths of time. A generalised answer is therefore not possible here.

Be assured, however, that we are working at full speed and with the greatest possible care to inform you of the outcome of your application process as quickly as possible.

During the ongoing application process, it is unfortunately not possible to provide any reliable information about your position on the waiting list, as this process is dynamic. We ask for your understanding!
