The specialist area of mechanical engineering focuses on product, process, and system development in the field of handling technology. Specifically, it deals with computer-aided development of mechatronic systems that address the challenges faced by sole proprietorships, SMEs, and industrial enterprises. Interdisciplinary projects carried out at the Department Automation Technology range from pure concepts and digital twins to physical functional models, which are implemented in-house. Requirements are analyzed, problems abstracted, and results developed using the latest technologies, all without a company-specific perspective.
The specialist area of Energy & Internet of Things is dedicated to energy optimisation in the broad context of automation technology. This includes energy technology issues as well as topics in the field of digitalisation and data analysis. The area focuses on energy technology optimisation, such as process control systems, renewable energies and simulations, home and building automation (smart home / smart building), IoT and network technology as well as data analysis and visualisation, including big data and mixed reality.
