Business plans, stage lights, and lots of enthusiasm: Styria celebrated its very first \u201cFestival of Ideas.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI never thought our idea would be presented on a stage \u2013 and in front of real entrepreneurs, no less.\u201d This sentence was heard more than once at the end of the Styrian regional final of the \u201cNext Generation\u201d competition. And that\u2019s exactly the point: to give young people the opportunity to think their ideas out loud, take their creativity seriously, and demonstrate just how much entrepreneurial spirit already exists in young minds.<\/p>\n

The nationwide competition is taking place for the 19th time this year \u2013 and for the first time, Styria hosted its own final. The event was held at FH CAMPUS 02 in Graz, where students presented their projects in the categories \u201cIdea Challenge\u201d and \u201cReal Market Challenge\u201d to a distinguished jury. They were supported for months by teachers and business coaches who provided not only expertise but, above all, courage.<\/p>\n

Two categories, many strong ideas<\/h3>\n

In the \u201cIdea Challenge\u201d category, the focus was on new business ideas with future potential \u2013 without requiring market readiness. Here, the team \u201cReDrop\u201d from HTL Kaindorf impressed with an app that digitally manages deposit receipts across various retail chains. No more rummaging through scraps of paper!<\/p>\n

Second place went to \u201cHome Nails\u201d (BHAK Eisenerz) \u2013 a concept for custom-designed fingernails that can be applied at home in seconds. In third place was \u201cGreen Scoops\u201d from BHAK Deutschlandsberg, who fight food waste by making ice cream from rescued fruit.<\/p>\n

In the practical \u201cReal Market Challenge\u201d category, \u201cWunder Zunder\u201d (BHAK Deutschlandsberg) took first place \u2013 an eco-friendly firelighter made from candle remnants and sawdust. Second place went to \u201cTrainity\u201d from HTL Kaindorf, an app that combines nutrition, fitness, and community. Coming in third was \u201c[re]whey\u201d from BG\/BRG Stainach, which developed a natural, drinkable whey powder \u2013 completely free of additives.<\/p>\n

The prizes were sponsored by the Chamber of Tax Advisors and Auditors and the Steierm\u00e4rkische Sparkasse.<\/p>\n

Special awards for sustainability and innovation<\/h3>\n

Two special awards were also presented:
\n\u2022 The \u201cWuffi Eco Set\u201d received the award for the most sustainable business idea \u2013 a dog toy free of chemicals, designed to be kind to the environment and pets alike.
\n\u2022 The Innovation Award went to \u201cCard2Go,\u201d a digital business card featuring NFC technology for contactless and lightning-fast data exchange.<\/p>\n

Next stop: the national final in Vienna<\/h3>\n

For the top teams in both main categories, the journey continues: on 17 June, they will represent their federal state at the national final in Vienna. New challenges\u2014and new opportunities\u2014await. \u201cWe want to encourage young people to take their ideas seriously,\u201d says Karin Sp\u00e4th, state coordinator of the eesi programme. \u201cBecause entrepreneurship often begins with a simple question: What could I change?\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u201cNext Generation Award\u201d is a business plan competition initiated by the Ministry of Education and implemented by the IFTE (Initiative for Teaching Entrepreneurship). The organisation of the Styrian regional final is managed by the e.e.si Impulszentrum f\u00fcr Entrepreneurship-Education and FH CAMPUS 02, represented by the Departments of Marketing & Sales and Accounting & Controlling.<\/p>\n
