Course Content
The Master Degree Programme in IT Technologies & IT Marketing expands knowledge learnt previously during relevant bachelor or diploma programmes and enables students to acquire a systematic qualification as an IT professional. It is offered as a part-time course for working professionals, enabling them to become a Dipl.-Ing. Teaching takes place in the form of seminars and small groups with an average study time of 3 semesters, thus allowing students to continue pursuing their daily professional activities whilst studying for an integral qualification as an IT executive during a predefined and manageable timescale. IT managers increasingly move between IT and management as a result of the change in importance of IT technologies in business and administration. They will need to support future demanding managerial tasks (increasing efficiency in business processes, etc.) through the effective application of IT solutions. This requires solid knowledge in the area of business system engineering (business informatics), coupled with comprehensive management competencies. Interdisciplinary knowledge, social skills and the mastering of modern management tools and systems are thereby the key qualifications of the IT professionals of tomorrow.
The focal points of the degree programme lie in the areas of:
-
Business systems engineering
-
Information technologies and IT management
-
Sales and service engineering
The organisational form takes into account the needs of students who are working professionals. Teaching sessions which students must attend are held on Friday afternoon/evening and Saturday morning. Distance learning components are also features of the programme, allowing the extensive development of degree programme content regardless of location and time. The teaching modules have been designed to enable acquired knowledge to be put to the test when tackling concrete managerial tasks: projects and case studies with complementary presentations and discussions. The Master Degree Programme also includes a concluding practice-relevant master’s thesis.
