1993

Enactment by the National Assembly of the Federal Law on Degree Programmes of Universities of Applied Sciences
  • Expansion of university sector in Austria to include universities of applied sciences
  • Definition as education establishments at a university level; scientific and discipline-oriented university education; scientific and vocation-oriented university of applied sciences education

1994

Preparation of the sector of university of applied sciences and naming of a recognised development team appointed by the Styrian Federal Government

1995

Formation of WIFI Steiermark GmbH

  • Development, maintenance and management of university of applied sciences degree programmes
  • Specialist focus and concentration on key industry processes of the industry
  • Submission of Degree Programmes in Marketing and Automation Technology (both part-time programmes for working professionals) for accreditation by the Council of Universities of Applied Sciences.

1996

First two university of applied sciences degree programmes for industry launched in winter semester 96/97 with 95 students (250 applicants) at the Körblergasse

  • Degree Programmes in Marketing (50 study places) and Automation Technology (36 study places), both part-time programmes for working professionals, accredited by the Council of Universities of Applied Sciences

1998

Expansion of the site necessary: decision to undertake the first building extension works

Shortage of IT and management specialists in the sector.

  • Submission of the Degree Programme in Information Technologies & IT Marketing for accreditation by the Council of Universities of Applied Sciences

2000

University of Applied Sciences wing brought into service in Körblergasse / Chamber of Commerce building

  • lecture halls - 3 seminar rooms - 3 laboratories - 1 hall - 1 piazza – gross floor space: 2,500m².

Graduation of the first graduates from the University of Applied Sciences for working professionals

  • 26 Automation Technology graduates and 41 Marketing graduates were presented with their degrees by the President of the Council of Universities of Applied Sciences
  • First graduation ceremony in Austria at which only working professionals graduated

Flaunch of the third university of applied sciences degree programme in winter semester 00/01

  • Degree Programme in IT Technologies & IT Marketing (part-time programme for working professionals) accredited by the Council of Universities of Applied Sciences. The degree programme got underway with 36 (+3) students selected from amongst 110 applicants
Submission of the fourth university of applied sciences degree programme
  • In response to needs expressed by the job market, the Degree Programme in Accounting & Controlling was submitted for accreditation by the Council of Universities of Applied Sciences

2001

Degree Programme in Marketing introduced as a full-time course in winter semester 01/02

Launch of the brand CAMPUS 02 – University of Applied Sciences degree programmes for industry

2002

Launch of the fourth university of applied sciences degree programme in winter semester 02/03

  • Accounting & Controlling (part-time and full-time): The degree programme accredited by the Council of Universities of Applied Sciences was launched with 60 (+7) students selected from among 151 applicants
  • Submission of Degree Programme in Innovation Management for accreditation by the Council of Universities of Applied Sciences
  • Management Board submits a request to its partner, the Styrian Chamber of Commerce, for infrastructural expansion – second building extension phase – on the Zusertal site

2003

Decision taken by the National Assembly to implement the Bologna Declaration in the sector of universities of applied sciences in Austria

Preparations began for the implementation of a quality management system in accordance with EN ISO 9001:2000 and an institution evaluation programme as instructed by the Council of Universities of Applied Sciences

Approval of request to expand onto the Zusertal site (second extension phase) for CAMPUS 02 activity

  • Building licence issued by the Municipality of Graz further to the decision of 26th November 2003
Fourth graduation ceremony of further academic year groups of the Degree Programmes in Automation Technology and Marketing
  • A total of 311 working professionals graduated

2004

Certification of the quality management system

  • In compliance with EN ISO 9001:2000
  • Second university of applied sciences to receive certification with an implemented quality management system
Introduction of the concept and implementation of new departments
  • Institute for University Didactics
Start of the second building extension phase on the Zusertal site
Successful completion of the institutional evaluation as commissioned by the Council of Universities of Applied Sciences First graduates of the Degree Programme in IT Technologies & IT Marketing complete their studies

    2005

    Introduction of the fifth degree programme

    • The Council of Universities of Applied Sciences approve the new Degree Programme in Innovation Management

    2006

    Status as a university of applied sciences further to the decision of the Council of Universities of Applied Sciences of 11.7.2006

    • First university of applied sciences for industry in Austria
    • 1086 study places approved by the Ministry of Science
    • Emphasis on part-time degree programmes for working professionals – dual system at a university level
    IInauguration of the CAMPUS 02 building in Zusertal
    • 2 buildings with a gross floor space of 8,200 m²

    • Academic programme in Software Engineering
    • Academic year group 2007/2008, 2nd academic year group 2008/2009, 3rd academic year group 2009/2010

    Winter semester: Bologna Declaration fully implemented with accreditation of all bachelor and master degree programmes

    • Heightened modularisation
    • Vencreased selection of specialised electives
    • Improved synchronisation of work history and degree programme progress (focus on operational activities during bachelor degree programmes, with this knowledge being built on for strategic functions during master degree programmes)

    2008

    Graduation ceremony of the first bachelor graduates of the technical degree programmes
    • 30 Automation Technology graduates, 31 IT & IT Marketing graduates and 29 graduates of the Bachelor Degree Programme in Innovation Management

    1000th student graduates - Degree Programme in Automation Technology
